Determine a setup method
AWS strongly recommends using IAM roles for installation. However, access keys are also supported for configurations that require keys, such as AWS GovCloud environments.
You need to determine which setup method to use. Virtana Platform supports two methods for configuring the integration with IAM roles:
Use a CloudFormation Template, which automates most of the steps.
Manually create an IAM role.
Review the AWS Security Best Practices for more information.
Select one of the following methods to set up an AWS Integration in Virtana Platform:
CloudFormation Template for creating an IAM Role
As a best practice use a template. It is generally simple, quick, and less error-prone. For more information, see Working with AWS CloudFormation templates.
Manual method for creating an IAM Role
If you want more control, manually create an IAM Role. For more information, see Create an IAM user in your AWS account.
Access Keys
Access keys are required for AWS GovCloud accounts.
After you determine which setup method to use, you need to perform specific tasks in AWS. You must also collect information in the AWS Management Console, which you can then enter in the integration setup form in Virtana Platform.
Note
You can link one or more AWS accounts to any AWS primary account. When linked, the primary account you created becomes the parent account to the children.
