Installation Prerequisites
The following prerequisites must be met prior to installing the PowerMax Integration.
The PowerMax Integration release 5.0.0 (included in the October release Integration Bundle ) is compatible with IO 8.0.0
A IO license that supports PowerMax must be downloaded and available for installation.
VMAX3 or later must have been properly installed and configured.
The PowerMax Integration depends on EMC SLO provisioning (sloprovisioning), which is not currently supported by VMAX2.
EMC Unisphere for PowerMax must be properly installed and configured.
Tip
Ensure that the clock on Unisphere for PowerMax is accurate. Inaccurate time on Unisphere can result in incorrect timestamps on data in IO, or it could result in data being dropped altogether.
Supported versions are 8.4.0.18 through 9.x.
The PowerMax array used in a IO configuration must be in a local Unisphere configuration (see Dell EMC documentation for details).
Important
You can only subscribe to a PowerMax array from one Unisphere instance.
Dell EMC Unisphere for PowerMax 9.0.1 or later is recommended to avoid a potential issue with running out of storage space on the internal eManagement VM supporting Unisphere (Dell EMC Support Article KB464048).
An EMC Unisphere for PowerMax REST API user and password must be configured and available when configuring a PowerMax Integration discovery instance.
The REST API user must be assigned a role with a minimum of “monitor” or “perfmonitor” privileges. You can assign roles with the proper privileges from the EMC Unisphere for PowerMax interface.
An HTTPS certificate is required only if using a self‐signed or untrusted certificate; otherwise, it is optional.
