Configure IO Virtual Edition Settings

Steps

  1. In a browser, go to the IP address of the Virtual Edition VM.

A self-signed certificate warning displays in the browser. Permit the browser to connect. A properly signed certificate can be uploaded after initial configuration.

    The IO Login screen displays.

  2. At the IO Login screen, enter the IO administrator default credentials and click Login:

    Username: Administrator

    Password: admin

At first login, the Terms of Use window displays.

  3. Accept the terms of use.

    The Personal Information window displays.

  4. Provide the settings required for the default Administrator.

The IO UI displays with the Configuration Checklist open.

If the checklist does not display, you can access it from the Username (Administrator) menu.

  5. Click the Username (Administrator) menu > About, and copy all of the information about IO.

Ensure you copy all of the UUID.You need the entire UUID to get the IO license.

  6. Contact your Virtana account team and provide them with the product version, UUID, and appliance name to get a license file.

  7. Click Licensing in the Checklist and upload the license file provided by Virtana.

    Tip

You should retain the license in case it is needed in the future. You might save it in a file with a name that easily identifies it, if you have more than one license.

  8. Click Settings > Network Setup and Utilities and configure the NTP servers.

    Important

You should configure the NTP servers prior to configuring the Performance Probes and Integrations, as those features use the time settings provided by the NTP server. Best practice is to configure four NTP servers for redundancy and protection against divergent time sources. Avoid configuring only two servers.

    Note

If you change the time zone to anything other than UTC, the appliance or virtual edition VM(s) will reboot.

  9. Work through the remaining Configuration Checklist tasks to complete setup of IO.

See Completing the Configuration Checklist for details.

Refer to the Settings chapter of the Infrastructure Observability Administrator Guide for information regarding further configuration of IO.
