Required Resources

The IO Virtual Edition, is packaged as an Open Virtual Appliance (OVA) file for use with VMware and as a compressed Hyper-V Virtual Hard Disk (VHDX) file for use with Microsoft Hyper-V Server.

The following resources are required for deploying the Virtual Edition OVA file on VMware:

  • ESXi version 6.0 or later

  • VM Hardware Version 11

  • CPUs: Minimum 8 CPU's, depending upon the type of deployment see exact details in "VM Specification" section below.

  • Memory: Minimum 64 GB, depending upon the type of deployment see exact details in "VM Specification" section below.

  • Disk: 1064 GB storage, thinly provisioned, with 160 MB/sec sustained R/W throughput minimum. It is permissible to allocate more than 1064 GB of disk if required.

  • Network connectivity to the infrastructure to be monitored.

The following resources are required for deploying the Virtual Edition VHDX file on Hyper-V:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and Hyper-V version 9

  • A configured DHCP server that can be used with the above

  • CPUs: 8

  • Memory: 64 GB

  • Disk: 1064 GB storage, thinly provisioned, with 160 MB/sec sustained R/W throughput minimum. It is permissible to allocate more than 1064 GB of disk if required.

  • Network connectivity to the infrastructure to be monitored.

Note

Note: If a lower specification is needed, the required memory and CPUs can be adjusted during deployment.

Note

The VE-required resource specifications are outlined in the online documentation. However, it's important to note that these specifications may not always be sufficient. Depending on the customer's environment and the number of integrations configured, adjustments to memory and CPU resources may be necessary.
