Introduction
Actions are a crucial component of the monitoring ecosystem, where issues and problems are addressed. They can vary based on several considerations, such as whether they are manual or automated, the need for approvals, the type of action, the nature of the impact, and whether they are simple "fire and forget" actions or part of a more complex workflow. The goal of the Virtana platform is to enable customers to select and use their preferred tools for automated actions, ensuring quick resolution when problems arise.
Key Terms and Concepts
Action/Remediation: The specific action that can be triggered. The concrete task or operation to be performed, which could involve scripts, workflows, or external tools.
Action Provider : Any provider can be integrated into the Virtana Platform with some development effort. Examples include StackStorm, or any other external tool a customer may have. The external system or tool that supplies the actions. These providers need to be integrated into the Virtana platform, allowing the platform to trigger these actions automatically or manually.
Action Definitions: Metadata for actions that need to be imported into the Virtana Platform to trigger specific actions
Action Executions: They include execution status, runtime parameter values, intermediate steps outputs, and logs.
By understanding these components and how they interact within the Virtana platform, users can effectively manage and automate their response to monitoring alerts, ensuring swift and appropriate action to maintain system performance and reliability.
Dashboard: Executed Actions Overview
On the dashboard, the "Executed Actions" section provides a detailed view of the most commonly executed actions and their status over a specific period.
Most Executed Actions: This section lists the actions that have been executed most frequently, along with their respective counts. The data is displayed in a table format, showing:
