Discovery with Multiple Arrays per Unisphere Host
A 1-1 (one-to-one) Unisphere host to PowerMax array is recommended (but not required) to help ensure rapid collection of statistics, allowing for more frequent polling intervals. The PowerMax Integration is capable of collecting statistics from multiple arrays being managed from one Unisphere host, however this can effectively slow down the rate at which we can fetch the information.
For example, if there are two arrays each with its own Unisphere host, we can collect data from both Unisphere hosts (and thus for both arrays) in parallel, resulting in faster overall collection time. If both arrays are managed from a single Unisphere host, then the data must be collected for one array first and then from the second array. This slows down the collection process and may result in requiring longer poll intervals.
If the arrays are smaller in size, collection might still complete in a reasonable amount of time. However, larger arrays could require longer collection times. In either case, the granularity remains unchanged, just the frequency at which you fetch the data might change.
For example, some 1-1 cases could possibly go every 5 or 10 minutes and get 5-minute granularity of data (meaning your data would be delayed by no more than 10 minutes). If multiple arrays are combined together in one Unisphere, then your poll interval might need to be closer to 30 minutes. In that case you still get 5-minute granularity, but your data could be delayed by more than 30 minutes.
