Other Entity Types Inventory View

All entities have inventory pages, which are similar across entity types other than Application and Tier entities.

The Properties section displays the entity's system and custom properties. Below the Properties section is a list of all sub-entities related to this entity. Some entities also have a Conversations section below this.

Important

Beginning in IPM 6.7, a limit has been placed on the number of conversation entities that IPM stores for ProbeFC, ProbeNAS, and NetFlow.

If the system limit of the number of conversations is reached, the least-recently-seen conversations are automatically deleted.

Deletion of these entities is intended to increase performance and reliability for long-running deployments. If you wish to modify or disable this feature, contact IPM Support.

System properties are populated automatically with entity discovery and cannot be changed. Custom properties can be added or changed by selecting the Add Property button and entering your custom property.

Entity Overview

The Overview tab displays a report that provides a summary of the entity (metadata), metric data, the list of open cases and the related entities. The data displayed focuses on health, utilization, capacity and performance data. You can use the page to view the current state of the entity

Related entities are users, components or containers of a given entity as shown below. For each of these, the case criticality is also displayed.

Threshold - Background color in the Overview tab

In the Overview tab meta data, the user can specify which metrics should be displayed by modifying the Report Template. For some metrics threshold value can be set to show a yellow or red threshold marker.

As shown below, the user can specify the threshold value for the specific metric and as per the specific metric's actual value, the background color will get highlighted either in "Yellow" or "Red" in the Overview tab.

The Overview tab meta data will display the background color highlighted as per the actual metric value as shown below

If same real worls entity is discovered by 2 Integrations VW may create 2 separate entities as per discovery of individual integrations. Overview Tab "Also Discovered As" column shows such relations between entities.

Currently following 2 such relationships are displayed in the UI : Host is sharing a same WWN (HBA Port) which is already associated to another Host.

Host is sharing same IP (user created Host for the existing IP Address)

Host is sharing a same WWN (HBA Port) which is already associated to another Host.

In this case in the Host's Overview tab the property "Also Discovered As" will show another host which is sharing the same HBA Port as shown below.

User can click on the Link showing the hostname & it will show the Overview tab for that host. If there are multiple Hosts associated then "Also Discovered Hosts" property will display comma separated list of hosts & when clicked on the link, it will show the popup window where user can select the host individually as shown below

Host is sharing same IP (user created Host for the existing IP Address) In case User has created a new Host manually using the existing IP Address (associated to another Host) then for Host's Overview tab the property "Also Discovered As" will show another host which is sharing the same IP Address as shown below:

Linked Report Tabs

New in IPM 7.1.5 is the ability to create tabs in the Entity Overview page that each link to separate Reports. Refer to the Adding a Report as tab in Inventory View chapter for more information. An example for ESX Hosts is shown below.
