Virtana Platform Connectivity

To establish access between IO and Virtana Platform, you must have the Client ID and Client Secret for the organization in Virtana Platform to which you are connecting. After generating a set of unique credentials in Virtana Platform, you must enter the credentials in IO. Refer to the Collect data from IO topic in the documentation for more details.

OAuth credentials are generated for the Virtana Platform organization under which you logged in and are unique to that organization.

Prerequisites

You must have administrator privileges in Virtana Platform to perform this task.

Your Virtana Platform account must be configured with a supported cloud provider instance.

The organization to which you want to upload the IO metrics must already exist in Virtana Platform.

Steps

  1. In Virtana Platform, ensure you are logged in to the organization you want to connect to.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Virtana Platform API.

  3. Click Generate OAuth Client Credentials.

    Unique credentials are displayed for your organization.

    You must copy these credentials and enter them in IO.

  4. In IO , navigate to Settings > Probes and Integrations > Connect to Virtana Platform and execute the following steps:

    • If no connection yet exists to a Virtana Platform organization:

      1. Provide the OAuth 2.0 Client ID and Client Secret for the target organization in Virtana Platform.

      2. Click Validate & Connect.

        A confirmation message displays when the connection succeeds.

    • If a connection already exists to a Virtana Platform organization:

      1. Click Connect to a different organization.

      2. Provide the OAuth 2.0 Client ID and Client Secret for the target organization in Virtana Platform.

      3. Click Validate & Connect.

        A confirmation message displays when the connection succeeds.

    Please note that in both cases, you may also configure IO connectivity using a proxy server as follows.

    1. Click on the Access via Proxy checkbox.

    2. Select an existing proxy server from the pull-down list or click on the Add New Proxy button and complete the New Proxy Server dialogue. Refer to Adding a Proxy Server for more information.

Revoke credentials

To revoke credentials, return to the Virtana Platform API tab and click Revoke Credentials.
