Analytics
Analytics can help you to quickly identify and resolve problems with your integration. Below are some integrations that you can use with this Integration. You can access analytics from the Analytics tab in IO.
For more information about IO analytics, see “Analytics” in the Virtana Infrastructure Observability Administrator Guide.
Capacity Forecast
The Capacity Forecast analytic determines the “time‐to‐zero” period for an entity’s key metrics to reach capacity using trend estimates based on long‐term historical usage data. It flags each key metric whose time‐to‐zero period is less than specified thresholds.
Before you can begin analyzing for capacity forecasting, you must collect at least three days’ worth of data. The Integration cannot access capacity information from before the integration was installed.
Capacity Forecast analyzes the following metrics to provide capacity reporting and planning information.
PowerMax Storage Group
Name | Description | |
Allocated Capacity | The amount of capacity that is allocated
PowerMax Back End Director
Name | Description | |
BE Director % Utilization | The percentage of time that the back end director is busy
PowerMax Storage Array
Name | Description | |
Used Usable Capacity | The used capacity of all of the Storage Resource Pools
Backend Utilization | The percentage of time the back end is busy
Disk Utilization | The percentage of time the disk is busy
Front End Utilization | The percentage of time the front end is busy
% Subscribed Capacity | The percentage of the usable capacity that is subscribed
RDF Utilization | The percentage of time the RDF is busy
Subscribed Capacity | The total amount of thin pools (note, this value can be higher than actual usable capacity)
PowerMax SRP | ||
Name | Description | |
Used Capacity | The used capacity of this Storage Resource Pool
PowerMax Front End Port
Name | Description | |
FE Port % Utilization | Percentage of time the port is busy
Event Advisor
This analytic provides a list of events across your infrastructure, prioritized by most impactful to your infrastructure so you know which events are most critical to address. Use the output with Trend Matcher for root cause analysis.
Event Advisor also enables you to specify an entity and a timeframe, and it provides a prioritized list of potentially interesting events and time periods (spikes, relevant performance issues, anomalous behavior, etc.) that require attention, ranked by magnitude and duration.
Trend Matcher
The Trend Matcher analytic correlates user‐selected trends (for example, unusual events like spikes or dips) to other related activity in the environment. Use this information in root cause analysis to determine how entities in your infrastructure impact each other.
Capacity Auditor
This integration supports the Capacity Auditor analytic, which provides analysis and information on storage utilization and capacity. Top-level storage entities (e.g., storage array, cluster) are considered when running the analytic, unless those entities are filtered out by the user.
Note
Used Usable Capacity and Used Effective Capacity metrics are not provided by Unisphere 8.x. IO estimates these values using Total Usable Capacity and % Effective Capacity metrics with a +/- 4.2 % margin of error. When Unisphere is upgraded to 9.x or later, the Used Usable Capacity and Used Effective Capacity are collected directly from the storage array.
