How Metric Collections Works

Windows Integration collects metric data by executing PowerShell commands to query Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) classes located on the Windows host. The integration reads specific files located on the Windows host, extracts data, and transmits that data to IPM for processing.

WinRM, a port, a username and password are needed for login to the host. If using HTTPS, it is possible to provide a WinRM certificate. Certificate validation can be ignored if the certificate is self-signed.

The polling interval for data collection by the integration is configured by the user. Data points are determined by the poll interval.

The complete list of metrics for this integration is available in a separate guide.
