How Metric Collections Works

Metric collection, as well as entity discovery, for the Solaris Integration occurs over an SSH session. When configuring your Solaris Integration you must provide the IP routable hostname or IP address of the host in your network, as well as authentication information, such as username and password.

First, the integration analyzes the /etc/release file to determine whether the machine is Solaris 10 or Solaris 11.Then all metric collection occurs through a small set of Solaris operating system tools, such as kstat, swap, pagesize, and hostname.

The complete list of metrics for this integration is available in a separate guide.
