How Discovery Works

The Dell EMC VPLEX integration discovers entities using the VPLEX Unisphere REST API. Calls are made to multiple endpoints to fetch all the required information. The api requires a unique call for each entity instance to fetch all data, thus the time to discover a VPLEX fully will vary based on the number of volumes, initiators, storage volumes etc. For this reason discovery is separately from metric collection every 4 hours (by default). Note, only local VPLEX clusters are discovered. Connect directly with remote vplex clusters to discover and monitor remote VPLEX clusters.
