Begin the AWS Integration Setup in Optimize

You can start the process of creating a new integration in Virtana Platform, but you cannot complete the process until you provide specific setting values gathered from AWS.

About This Task

  • After you start the AWS Integration setup and determine the settings you want to apply, you must then access the AWS Console. From AWS you must collect the required information that you then enter in the appropriate fields in the Virtana Platform integration setup form.

  • Cost Explorer and Detailed Billing Analysis are both required for billing analysis and are therefore preselected in the setup form. Additionally, Virtana Platform supports multiple AWS datasources with Cost Explorer API enabled.

Steps

  1. In Virtana Platform:

    1. Navigate to Settings > Integrations > Cloud Providers.

    2. Click Add Integration and select the appropriate integration type.

    3. Optional: Enter a descriptive name for the integration instance to identify what it is for.

If no name is given, Virtana Platform provides a unique default name.

  2. Under Cost Analysis, note the information you must collect from AWS: the S3 Bucket Name and Report Path Prefix

  3. Under AWS Authentication, select the appropriate authentication type.

    • If using a GovCloud account, enable I'm using a GovCloud AWS account.

This account type requires use of access keys.

Note the information you must collect from AWS if using this method: the AWS Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.

      Important

Leave GovCloud disabled unless you have signed up for and are using a GovCloud-restricted AWS account.

    • IAM Role

IAM Role is recommended by AWS, unless you are using a GovCloud account.

Note the information you must collect from AWS if using this method: the AWS IAM Role ARN value.

If using the Management Account Permissions with the IAM role, make a note of the Optimize Account ID to enter in AWS.

    • Access Key

Note the information you must collect from AWS if using this method: the AWS Access Key ID and Secret Access Key.

  4. Under Linked Accounts, If adding additional accounts select either IAM Role or Access Key.

  5. Click Save.

What's Next?

You must now log in to AWS Console, configure the required settings, and copy the necessary values to be entered in Virtana Platform.
