Alert Triggering

This topic enables you to create new alert rules by defining condition expressions as per your requirement for Logs and Metrics-based alerts so that Container Observability detects and triggers immediate notifications if the entities are not behaving as per the applied condition.

To add a rule, follow the steps:

  1. Log in to the Container Observability Application.

  2. On the left sidebar, click Admin.

  3. Select Alert Triggers. An Alert rule window will be displayed.

  4. On the top bar, click Add Rule.

  5. In Rule Type, select the type of Alert Rule you require to apply.

  6. In Object Type, select the type of entity you require for Alerts.

  7. Populate the following necessary fields.

Fields

Description

Rule Name

Select the rule type from the drop-down as per your requirement. You can select either Metric or Log as the rule name.

Status

Select Active to continue the applied alert rule or select delete to disable the applied alert rule.

Priority

Select the type of applied rule priority for Low, High, or Medium. Based on the rule priority that you select; alerts are listed accordingly.

On and Off breach Alert message

Describe the message for anomalies to receive the alerts displayed with a message summary.

On and Off breach Alert details

Describe Alert details as per your requirement for the applied alert rule.

Condition Expression

Define expressions for metric or log rules, see help :help_button_: for expression samples.

8. Write your own query as required and define Condition Expression along with the Alert message description as per your requirement.

9. Set Breach Timeout to trigger an alert.

10. Click Apply. You can check the status if the applied rule is compiled successfully.
