How Discovery Works

The IO Windows Integration connects to the Windows host using the WinRM protocol over a configured port. During host configuration you can select whether to use WinRM over HTTP or HTTPS.

To collect metric data from the Windows host, the IO integration must be provided with a user with login credentials to the Windows host and a minimum of read-only permissions.

The entities that are discovered by the Windows Integration and for which metrics are generated include the Windows host, CPU, storage-related devices, network-related entities, volume-related entities, etc. For a specific list of supported entities, see Entity Types.Entity Types

An integration license is not required for discovery. The license is required only for metric collection.
